On Sunday, June 23rd, NOW hosted a free youth football clinic in partnership with WPTP Junior Football League. The clinic took place at the NOW Field at Logee Park in East Putnam and saw participants learning & practicing skills courtesy of WPTP Junior Football League coaches and older players. This is the seventh free youth clinic NOW has hosted in 2019, with previous clinics focused on baseball, running, soccer, yoga, and swimming.
With ample sunshine and warmth, the football clinic kicked off the summer season with a fun day of physical activity, skills and football drills. Over 40 children ages 5 – 15 were in attendance and rotated through a variety of football “skill stations” with additional fitness & nutrition activities led by NOW staff. The clinic gave children who had never played football an introduction to the sport, and gave returning players a chance to brush up on techniques prior to the start of the 2019 football season.
WPTP volunteers provided sign-up information for parents interested in registering their children for the upcoming season. NOW partners with WPTP Junior Football, offering scholarship assistance to qualifying children who may otherwise be unable to access the sport. To inquire about scholarship assistance, parents and caregivers are encouraged to click on the orange “We Pay. You Play” submission bar at the top of the organization’s website (www.NOWinMotion.org).
