On Wednesday, May 2nd The Quinebaug Valley Community College Foundation celebrated the 28th annual scholarship night, awarding $135,000 in funds to students. During the event, the Northeast Opportunities for Wellness Norman Corriveau Scholarship was presented to Brooklyn resident and QVCC student William Hamill. The scholarship is named in memory of Norman Corriveau, who was passionate in his support of community and youth wellness programs. Corriveau’s daughter Karen Labeau and friend Ralph Oriola presented the award to Hamill.
This annual scholarship awards $1,000 to a recipient who meets the following requirements: 1. Must be a full-time or part-time student at QVCC 2. Have a GPA of 3.0 or better and be a resident of northeast Connecticut. Preference to be given to a resident of the 10-town area (Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson, Woodstock) who has shown a dedication to youth causes and wellness.
